In 1710 Campra created another poplar success with his opera-ballet “Les Fêtes Vénitiennes”. All the scenes are set in Venice during the Carnival, and many of the scenes and dances feature well-known commedia figures such as Harlequin and Pulcinella. In this course, we’ll be experimenting with ways of bringing commedia and mask-work into some of the many dances Campra wrote for this opera-ballet.
