Stemming from the abundant tradition of splendid court festivities in Vienna crowned with the spectacular baletti, which ranked especially high among the tribute ceremonies, the serenata Hercules und Onfale evokes the atmosphere of the long vanished glorious diversions, documented in the materials preserved in the Archbishop Archives in Kromeriz.
