Who isn’t familiar with the colourful paintings of Hieronymus Bosch? Sometimes a bizarre world combining the sinful life on earth and the heavenly after world. Camerata Trajectina, the Lieven Baert company and Gerrit Komrij have put together an exciting production on this theme under the direction of Jos Groenier. Music reverberates only to vanish again, dancers gyrate in gorgeous costumes while video images are projected. Komrij strolls through the scenes as narrator and interpreter of prose and poetry from the time of Bosch. In a nutshell a multimedia medieval spectacle which you’ll remember for a long time to come.
This concert is part of theatrical classic music series: Theatraal Klassiek. Music may be meant for the ear but the eye can add a welcome embellishment. Add some theatrical elements and music turns out to have many unsuspected sides to it. These are the dimensions that the adventurous Theatraal Klassiek series focuses on. Musicians and theatre makers demonstrate in these three concerts how they place music in a broader picture and allow it to tell its own story. Discover the paintings of Hieronymus Bosch, travel through Spain, or relive recent history in these performances.
